Dumb Blonde?

Last week I coloured my hair blonde (like a shining lamp, yes!) just as part of an anthropological experiment to record the people´s reaction towards blonds. I have always had these huge arguments with my friends "the brunettes club" about blondes and how men always turn their heads to check out blondes, not as often when a brunette passes by. We have had our arguments from the feminist point of view, we have even invited men to answer some of our questions, and all that stuff about blondes having more fun. Bottom line, I decided to run the experiment on my own, and I spend money (too much, in my opinion) dying my hair and eyebrows with professionals to avoid a permanent damage and I decide to let my self "be seen" around here and there, following these groups of attractive blondes walking this way and that, shopping here and there, having coffee, going to the supermarket and mall, etcetera, and these are the results of my experiment so far:
Blondes are friendly, they show their solidarity, but only with other blondes, if you have yellow hair, your are in the circle. If not, you automatically become the enemy.
It is true, I´ve seen it myself, out of a 100 young women, men turned their heads to check out every single blonde, not to say that only tall extremely attractive brunettes deserved their efforts.
Most men, tend to be extra kind to blondes, thus assuming that they need help with simple things like picking up their car keys. When they say that "blondes are three minutes ahead of the rest of women" it is right. Men noticed blondes faster than their fellow-gender-sisters.
My conclusion is this, maybe blondes are not dumb, but they certainly get things easier than the non blondes, thus they tend to become careless and count on people to help them and they are right, that is exactly what people do. They are sweeter and of course this affects their self perception and other people´s perception. They are not dumb, or at least being dumb has nothing to do with being blonde. Now, check out my list of women that are not natural blondes, but for some reason, (smarty pants!) they decided to become blondes:
1. Shakira - famous singer, I think she looks much better as a brunette, but who knows
2. Cristina Aguilera - Again, famous singer, though I have to say that she looks better blonde
3. Jessica Alba - Famous actress, blonde... definitely not her colour.
4. Victoria Beckham - She is not a blonde, she came back to her senses
5. Keira Knightley - Actress, she looks horrid as a blonde-wanna-be
6. Angelina Jollie - She has nothing to do with blondes, black or brunette are her colours
7. Ashley Judd - For some strange reason, you just can´t believe that she would be blonde, not in a hundred years.

Now, blondes that have explored the world as dark-haired women and are not in their element:

1. Reese Whiterspoon - She doesn`t look good not being blonde
2. Peta Wilson - Actress, she must remain blonde for ever
3. Dakota Fanning - Looks better blonde
4. Cameron Diaz - I know that she is not a "natural" blonde but she is, she looks horrible in other colours

Britney Spears

I am quite shocked by the the people´s and the media´s treatment towards Britney Spears. I pity her, she´s just a stupid girl who thought that the bastard she chose for husband loved her. He, obviously took advantage of the minimum IQ that she has and now is squeezing every penny so that he never has to work in his life. Her children must live with her, once her drinking and drug problems are resolved, that man ruined her, I can imagine how hard it must be for a woman with the chronological age of a teenager and the money and fame she has, heartbroken and disappointed about life. Some women have the opportunity to live their heartaches in total piece and alone, she has been humiliated constantly in public, in front of the whole world. I don´t think it is fair. Women should show more solidarity with women, there is no sense of sisterhood. She is already a victim of the war against women, her stupid comments and lack of common sense are already a burden, if we add all the gossip and the mean things the media do in order to have more audience, to sell more magazines and of course the paparazzi, always harassing we have a very unfair situation. I am not justifying her erratic decision making, I am just making a point. He is the misogynistic bastard, he left his wife to go to Britney like a hunter to his prey, I think it is time to show some support, what happened to the millions of fans that she had? I was never a fan and I still think that it is not moral to be there when everything is going right, crisis are a time for need, poor thing, she´s fallen from heaven to hell in a few months, and now every single comment, photo, joke and even dark hours are being retold by those around her to make profit for themselves. People should start by rejecting all these complaints of the people that use to work for her, where is the professionalism? -if there ever was- now they go around telling lies or the truth with heavy dose of exaggeration and only to make money or to get their 5 minutes of fame. I think Britney Spears is an example of media cannibalism. I pity her.

Beautiful Soundtracks

For people who enjoy high quality soundtracks, I have a list that I highly recommend for those of you who are trying to find a good variety for different moments, moods or simply to hear something different. This is my top 5

• The big blue - Make sure you get the original by Eric Serra
• The holiday - Hans Zimmer is always a guarantee
• Pride and Prejudice - If you can forget about Keira Knightley´s lollipop lady look, the music is beautiful, simply perfect piano.
• Great Expectations - The remake directed by Alfonso Cuaron, with Gwyneth Paltrow, that is the movie, the music is awesome
• The last Samurai - The music is better than the movie

Curious fact, I was very disappointed when I realised that in the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" with Orlando Bloom, Jeremy Irons and Eva Green, they stole the music from "The 13th Warrior" directed by Robert McTiernan.

For Sci-Fi lovers

I strongly recommend that sci-fi lovers rent or buy Frank Herbert´s Dune Saga. Available in English and Spanish (might be other languages, I´m not sure) you can either read it, the first five books are excellent, or watch it there is the old very personal concept directed by David Lynch and the "new" TV series of Dune and its sequel Children of Dune. In some centuries, the most precious substance in the entire universe is the spice melange. The spice extends life, expands consciousness, allowing users that have mutated through years to travel without moving. It is highly addictive and it only exists in one planet in the whole universe, Arrakis, also known as Dune, for it is a desolate, desert planet. All the great houses in the entire universe, emperor included want to have control of the spice production, space guild, Benne Gesserit sisterhood, etcetera. Nobody is considering the residents of the planet, a strange, savage kind of people known as Fremen. An exciting story, that we could easily compare with what´s happening to planet earth nowadays. Highly recommendable!!
